Design Precedents.

The top example holds an interesting relationship between the text and the arrows, visually communcating the idea of moving forward in a captivating way, could be translated into our own project as the idea of a community moving forward. The bottom example communicates the idea of connectivity and togetherness, something we could take into our own project.

The top example possess a clean simple aesthetic that could work well in our project. The symbol of a bell, a signal, a buzzer could be an interesting symbol to play around with in our neighbourhood project. The bottom example also hold the clean graphic aesthetic, illustrating a hermit crab, a symbol that holds connotations of someone that doesn't interact with their community/society.

The illustrative style of this poster plays on the idea of diversity and the act of this diversity coming together, something we are definitely interested in.

I chose this example because furthering on from the idea of a hermit, our project could play on the idea encouraging people not to hide in their neighbourhood.

This example possess an interesting graphic style. I found the way that the individual elements come together creates a meaning in itself, but at the same time still holding a playful aesthetic.

Another playful illustrative lighthearted example. This style is effective because it still holds connotations of playfulness but still is cohesive and isn't 'cliche cute'.

We were interested in the idea of visually communicating the idea of communication and connectedness through the line. These examples play around with the idea of line and form.

More examples of playful design that could integrate well within our topic.

Visually communicating the idea of community and neighbourhood could be hijacking a postcard/letter aesthetic, which could further relate to the idea of letterboxes and leaving notes for your neighbour.

Another example of a graphic style combining individual elements to create an almost scientific aesthetic.

A nice example of hand lettering, that is effective in portraying the atmosphere and feelings of a community and neighbourhood. The bottom example shows an effective use of positive and negative space in order to create a nice simple clean clever logo.

A further example showing the use of line and form in order to communicate the idea of 'coming together'

A further example holding a mail/postcard/letter aesthetic that we could play around with.

The top two examples I am really interested in. The playful illustrative aesthetic would be very effective in communicating the messages of community and neighbourhood.
